Microdermabrasion

Introduction

Microdermabrasion is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure used to improve the appearance of facial skin. Very superficial skin conditions, such as fine wrinkles, dull skin, age spots, and acne, may be minimized with microdermabrasion. The procedure uses the gentle abrasive action of tiny crystals to polish the skin. The result is healthier-looking fresh skin.

Treatment

Microdermabrasion can be performed in your doctor’s office in about 30 minutes to an hour. It is also known as a “power peel” or a “lunch hour procedure.” Your doctor will use a wand-like instrument to emit tiny crystals to gently treat your skin.

You may resume your normal activities immediately following your procedure. Your skin fully recovers in about a day. Most people require multiple treatments and a maintenance program.
